Growing up in Indian Territory, with an Irish father and Creek mother, Ross McClain is surrounded by conflicting information and opinions about the Civil War. When he leaves his home, Ross heads east to join the North's Union Army. At his last major battle engagement, he gains two valuable possessions, a black stallion and a saber with hidden treasure. Eager to return home, Ross travels toward Fort Gibson, located along the Arkansas River. Within a mile of the Fort, Ross comes upon rogue Confederate soldiers, who are beating a young boy. Ross quickly intervenes but is nearly killed for his efforts. He is found by a missionary family and nursed back to health, but his horse and the saber are gone. When Ross' younger brother, Levi, arrives on the scene, he brings news that their sister, was taken by raiding Indians. With a heavily armed group of friends and soldiers from Fort Gibson, Ross and Levi set out to follow the fierce warriors. Will Ross McClain retrieve his stolen possessions and locate the Comanches who abducted his sister? Or will all be lost forever?
