Taryn Boonpongmanee, a senior at Deerfield Academy, embodies a passionate drive for the Classics, with a specific fondness for Latin. Despite originating from Richland, WA, where opportunities to study Classics are limited, she has embarked on a journey in the Classics, studying various classical languages including Latin, Greek, Sanskrit, and Pali. Taryn believes in the transformative power of education and aims to diversify and enhance the accessibility of Classics. She works to extend the reach of Classics as an advocate, challenging the elitist perception of Latin, and inspiring a new generation of enthusiasts and hopes to further these ideals by becoming a teacher and an author in the future.
