He worked at the V.I. Employment Security Agency as an interviewer before enroling in law school. He then earned a law degree from New York Law School of New York City in 1969. Brady began his legal career at the Legal Aid Society of New York, where he worked from 1969 to 1971 as a public defender. He then served as an assistant U.S. attorney from 1971 to 1973
