From the outset, this book was developed out of a sincere desire to improve the prayer culture of the church where I serve as pastor. From the outset, this book was developed out of a sincere desire to improve the prayer culture of the church where I serve as pastor. The goal for the congregation was to unite in prayer for thirty days, praying for different circumstances each day. We started off with prayers similar to the Lord's model prayer that he gave to his disciples. Then we progressed beyond that to include interceding for institutions ranging from family to government, and from prison to the pulpit. We also prayed for change in the conditions in our schools and community. As we continued in community prayer, I soon realized that God was doing something powerful that extended far beyond the members of our congregation. Before the thirty days of prayer concluded, we had hundreds of people joining us daily on a prayer call from across the country. We then expanded the thirty days of prayer to an accompanying devotional so that the inspirational messages behind the prayers could be shared with others. Therefore, the impetus behind writing this book was to encourage people to embrace the practice of praying in community to invoke heaven's power into the affairs of God's people on earth. I therefore, challenge women, men, youth groups and churches to read this book together and pray in unison. Don't let the obstacles of distance or distraction, fear or uncertainty, dissuade you from the power of prayer-be courageous and Just Do It!
