Morley Star, age 10, has a bully problem. And a mother who is always sad, since her boyfriend Danny left. Not to mention her annoying little sister... That's not all that's going wrong, but Morley is sure she knows how to fix it. If Danny would just come home and if she could just have a kitten, Morley thinks her life would get right back to being normal again. And happy! Just two little wishes...that's all it would take. So why is it so hard to make such simple dreams come true? Why did her step-father leave, the real reason? Why can't she have a pet? And why won't mean girl Julia just go away and leave her alone? Just Me. Morley is the first in a heartwarming series of realistic novels that take place in a small seaside town. It's a place where nothing - and everything - happens for real girls with big dreams! A coming-of-age novel series to enchant grade 5 and middle school readers ages 10 to 13. About the Author Jacquelyn Johnson writes the kind of stories for girls she wishes were available when she was 11 or 12. It's such a vivid time of discovery, especially about who you are and how you can shine in the world, she says. "It's the time when you first find your own true voice, and how to use it. That's what this series is all about." Following careers as a teacher, journalist, and magazine editor, she returned to her first love, writing novels. She lives with her family in a small village near the sea not unlike Seabright, with a little cat surprisingly similar to Morley's Feather.
Autorenporträt
Jacquelyn Johnson writes sweet contemporary romances with humor and plenty of banter for readers who like heroes who are possibly a bit misguided but truly heroic, feisty heroines who you'll want as friends and happy endings. She's also the author of the Morley Star series of realistic novels for girls ages 10 to 13 and a dozen or so books about dogs, cats and assorted other pets and animals for middle school readers. When not writing or avoiding cooking and housework, she likes to drive around admiring other people's gardens or lounge on her verandah with a refreshing glass of something and a good book. She lives in an old farmhouse that will probably never be finished (though she lives in hope) near the ocean.
