Karl Anderson, January 13, 1884 to May 18, 1956, was first an illustrator and later briefly in the group of American impressionists at Giverny, France. His work became more symbolic in the 1920s. He exhibited widely, but was most known as a portrait painter, "The Dean of Westport Artists." His brother, Sherwood, was a well-known modernist author.
