Deborah Kanafani, is the author of Kate Kate and the Bizzy Girls and founder of Bizzy Girls. Bizzy Girls has entrepreneur programs, books, products and digital content for girls 6-14 years of age. It's mission is to empower girls through entrepreneurship, teaching leadership skills, building self confidence and engaging girls in purposeful activities. Trained as a psychotherapist, Deborah has worked with girls and women on issues of empowerment both in the United States and abroad. Deborah has long believed that activities that build self esteem should start at a young age. After realizing the need for tweens to have more experiences and skills that help build self esteem, Deborah created the character of entrepreneur fashion designer, Kate, and her friends, The Bizzy Girls. Deborah has served as the Executive Director of Women in Film and Television, Washington, D.C., where she worked to advance women in the entertainment industry, and advocated for healthy and positive role models for girls. Deborah is the author of "Unveiled", her best selling memoir published by Simon and Schuster in 2009. The book is an account of her three year stay in the Middle East helping women and children stand up to oppressive regimes. While in the Middle East, Deborah also served as Director of International Productions for the PBC, where she wrote and produced children's television shows for UNICEF and UNDP. Deborah grew up in an entrepreneurial family and has owned many businesses.
