Katharina Sieverding wurde 1944 in Prag geboren. Von 1963 bis 1964 war sie an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg und im Anschluß von 1964 bis 1972 an der Staatliche Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. Meisterschülerin bei Joseph Beuys. Sie verbrachte einige Zeit, von 1972 bis 1988 in den USA, der Volksrepublik China und der Sowjetunion. Seit 1922 ist sie als Professorin an der Hochschule der Künste in Berlin tätig, lebt und arbeitet jedoch in Düsseldorf.
