Kaven and Kayla are twin Coonkin who were born with no Spark. Having no inherent magical abilities, they've found themselves surviving on the streets of Hawthorn, thieving and scrounging everything they can. The Sparkless, as they are called, are viewed as little more than "larger game" by the Noblemen of the Brindlewood territory. While some want their acquisitions delivered alive so that they can be hunted, some contracts are for pelts and tails only. Kaven has no idea what type of contract was being fulfilled when mercenaries kidnapped his sister. Armed with only his determination and love for his kin, he sets off on an adventure to find and rescue her, or at least, avenge her. But fate, it would seem, has other plans, when he stumbles across a powerful artifact in the wreckage of a great airship. He also can't seem to stop bumping into a particular purple-robed witch named Twitch, and her furry Arachidna companion, Fidget.
