Ongong'a es actualmente profesor titular en el Colegio Universitario Bondo, que forma parte de la Universidad de Masno (Kenya), y tiene un doctorado y un diploma de postgrado en educación. Tiene un gran interés en la gestión de las aulas. Ha escrito mucho. La Sra. Yanina Apopo, que tiene un M.Ed. en Pedagogía, es profesora de enseñanza secundaria en Kenya.
