The present Khowar language Vocabulary Book was initiated by Rehmat Aziz Chitrali, Linguist, Lexicographer and Researcher at Khowar Academy Pakistan in 1996 with the purpose of helping to preserve the Khowar language and literature. Khowar (ISO code: khw) is a Indo-Aryan language spoken by about 10,00,000 people living mostly in Northern Pakistan. This language is, in fact, a group of several varieties, largely unstudied and undocumented. For more information on Khowar see Ethnologue. This is the first ever Vocabulary of Khowar language spoken in Pakistan. Rehmat Aziz Chitrali has also working on another two publications containing some of the Khowar Grammar, Khowar Softwares and Chitrali Dictionary. There is, however, no Vocabulary book of Khowar-Urdu is available in written form as well as digital form. The current book is the first attempt of Rehmat Aziz Chitrali at compiling one. The main body of texts was written by Rehmat Aziz Chitrali, linguist and native speaker of Khowar from Chitral Pakistan. The author has used a number of khowar sentences and khowar words in this book for khowar speaking children studying in Chitral Pakistan.
