> Children are among the largest groups of people affected by Lyme disease. Stephen's story serves as a resource for the ever-increasing number of children who struggle with chronic disease. It seeks to empower parents to walk with their children and encourages both parent and child to grow to trust our good and faithful Father in the midst of suffering. One of the main purposes of this book is to remind everyone that our identity is not defined by our illnesses, but by the God who loves us.

Stephen directed the writing of his story, making sure to add in his specific sense of humor and silliness. His mom helped him pen and organize his thoughts, but the thoughts are his own. Stephen is an active and healthy thirteen-year-old boy who resides in Monument, Colorado, with his siblings and parents. He enjoys chess, football, running, skiing, hiking, and cuddling his dog, Selah. He is quick to notice other kids who are struggling and looks for ways to be an encouragement to them. He really enjoys helping and serving in his community through Trail Life, church, and school. His mother, Sande Bargeron, is a Physician Assistant, Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (Anesthesia PA/Anesthetist), and Board-certified Doctor of Natural Medicine. She and her husband, Lee, maintain a virtual integrative health practice supporting families struggling with brain health issues, including Lyme disease. The clinic is specifically Holistic and Integrative, with a philosophy that the best physician is an educated patient. The struggle of Lyme disease brought us closer to one another and to the Lord. We can honestly say with Paul that "we rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us" (Romans 5:3-5 NIV). We have seen God use our suffering as a means to bless and comfort others around us, and we give thanks for the opportunity to serve others. For more information, please go to beyondbrainhealth.com.
