R. K. Bickerstaff and Shelia Hunkins have been friends since the eighties. They are both graduates of Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and went on to attend HBCUs as R. K. and Shelia attended Fisk University, where R. K. graduated. Shelia went on to graduate from Clark Atlanta University. R. K. and Shelia are each a parent of a boy and a girl. They are both divorced. Shelia is the author of Two of Everything, a book for kids about life after divorce. R. K.
