Davidson Garrett is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana and he trained for the theater at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. A member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors' Equity, he has worked in theater, film and television since 1973. His poetry, prose and articles have been published in The New York Times, The Episcopal New Yorker, Sensations Magazine, Xavier Review, The Stillwater Review, Third Wednesday, First Literary Review East, Marco Polo Arts Magazine and Podium: the online literary journal of the 92nd Street Y. Garrett is the author of the chapbook, "To Tell The Truth I Wanted To Be Kitty Carlisle and Other Poems" published by Finishing Line Press. A Pushcart Prize nominee, Garrett was profiled in New York Magazine in 2012 in an article by the journalist Kate Lowenstein. In 2013 and 2014, he was invited to read his taxi poetry for the PEN World Voices Festival at The Public Theater's Joe's Pub and at the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Davidson Garrett was awarded 1st Place for the Second Annual Juanita Torrence-Thompson International Poetry Award sponsored by Amulet Poetry Magazine.
