Bru Baker erhielt den ersten Vorgeschmack auf das Autorenleben im zarten Alter von vier Jahren. Damals begann sie eine wöchentliche Zeitung für ihre Familie herauszugeben. Was ihre Angehörigen als Neugier bezeichneten, nannte sie einen Riecher für Neuigkeiten. Niemanden überraschte es, dass sie sowohl einen Abschluss in Journalismus als auch einen in Politikwissenschaften machte und eine Karriere als Journalistin begann. Über zehn Jahre lang hat Bru für Zeitungen geschrieben, ehe sie zur Romanliteratur wechselte. Inzwischen arbeitet sie in einer Bücherei im Mittleren Westen der USA in der Abteilung Nachschlagewerke und Leserberatung. Es fällt ihr immer noch schwer, zu glauben, dass jemand sie dafür bezahlt, den ganzen Tag über Bücher zu reden. An den meisten Abenden macht sie es sich zusammengerollt mit einer Tasse Tee, flauschigen Socken und einem E-Book gemütlich. Ob sie nun ihre eigenen Charaktere entwirft oder sich von denen eines anderen Autors fesseln lässt - vertieft in eine Geschichte ist Bru einfach am Glücklichsten. Da sie und ihr Mann zwei Kinder haben, werden viele ihrer Bücher an den verschiedensten Spielfeldrändern geschrieben.
