Helen Brodie Cowan Bannerman (née Watson), was a Scottish children's book author. She is best known for her first book, Little Black Sambo. The illustrations and settings in Bannerman's books are all about the Indian people and their culture. Helen Brodie Cowan Bannerman (geb. Watson), war eine schottische Kinderbuchautorin. Am bekanntesten ist sie für ihr erstes Buch, Kleiner Schwarzer Sambo. Die Illustrationen und Schauplätze von Bannermans Büchern handeln alle von der indischen Bevölkerung und ihrer Kultur.
