The book address a brief rationale for pursuing the interest and indicated the overall understanding about Knowledge Management, its applications. The primary focus is on knowledge management practices in biotechnology companies in India. Companies are making their choices regarding the scope of programs and problems within knowledge management. Decisions are made that lead companies to navigate in some parts of the knowledge management domain while neglecting others. There are three contexts of knowledge: Individual, Group & Organizational. The current state of the knowledge management field is that it encompasses four overlapping areas: managing knowledge, organizational learning, intellectual capital and knowledge economics. However, keeping in view the practical difficulties, the present study extends its scope to knowledge creation, adoption and retention. The study primarily focusses on biotechnology companies situated in India.
