Autorenporträt
Mushroom Montoya was born in New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, where his mother and grandfather told him stories of his great-grandfather who was an hechicero, a medicine-man. When Mushroom was eight years old, his family moved into an Irish neighborhood in Long Beach, California. There he was trained to be Irish and the Irish nuns taught him about leprechauns. After Mushroom took his first shamanic course in 1980, the stories he was told when he was a child took on a new meaning. Now, as a shaman, he heals the planet one person at a time. Mushroom circumnavigated the globe in between his two tours of duty in the Viet Nam war. He returned to the Land of Enchantment and became an architect. He designed the country's largest sleep laboratory, secret military facilities he's not allowed to talk about, gazebos, and FBI photo labs and other cool facilities. Mushroom's writing has been featured in Aztlan and Viet Nam, an anthology of Mexican American writings about the Viet Nam war. His stories have been published in The Sun Magazine, PBS-POV Selected Stories, and the Four Star News.
