Fishing industry in Korea faces numerous challenges over the next decade as the fisheries sector evolves to play a new role in the country's fast developing economy. Traditionally a major employer of labor and a core sector in the economy, the fishing industry is under pressure to reduce its marine capture capacity to ensure sustainable production. This book is an introduction, not a depth research monograph, and as such it is set at reviews and descriptions for understanding Korean major policies of fisheries and fisheries resources management. The structure of the book is for the most part deliberately linear, to achieve progression of understanding Korean major fisheries policies and resources management. The major fisheries policies include the Korean co-management TAC system, fisheries self-governance and fisheries subsidies Impacts on fishery resource, Korean fish stock rebuilding plan(FSRP), the decommissioning schemes and a bioeconomic analysis of decommissioning schemes and fisheries adaptation to climate change and green growth for fisheries development.
