Richard Holmes graduated from Caltech in physics and Stanford University in operations research. He has published roughly 30 journal articles, 60 conference papers, and 18 patents. In 1987 he co-predicted spin-two optical phonons in gases to explain polarization effects in stimulated Raman scattering. He is a Fellow of two professional societies.
