In 1841, life is good in the little town of Jonesboro, Georgia. A young doctor comes to work at General Hospital, falls in love, and marries the prettiest girl in Clayton County. Dr. John and Elizabeth Kelsey are set to embark upon their joyous and tragic life together over the next three decades. The surprise of an abandoned baby named Kyzer coincides with a move to Kellwood Plantation, John's boyhood home in Hastings, Virginia. During his thirty years, Kyzer must remain strong physically, emotionally, and spiritually as he discovers who he really is. Drawn out from the roots of slavery and saved only by the white family who adopts him, he follows the only lifestyle he has ever known. KYZER'S DESTINY, a story of one man's struggle with himself, will take you on this journey as he experiences the issues of slavery, plantation life, civil war, love, and death.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
A good storyteller will help his readers escape the reality of present day by taking a simple plot, adding a few memorable characters, and weaving their actions altogether onto a grand illustrative stage. Ever since I could remember anything about America's early history, I have always been intrigued about life during the time period of 1840 in the deep south before the war between the states. The characters in the novel, many based upon the physical resemblances of actual persons, lived and breathed together within me for several years. I felt I could talk with them, and at times, longed to share in their joys and sorrows. I continued to write because I wanted to find out what happened to my characters. As a man who loves history, I present my work to the best of my ability after many travels and much research. Personal visits to Andersonville, several battlefields, numerous antebellum homes, and former plantation sites were valuable to me, being both inspring and rewarding. Based upon moral Christian beliefs and principles, while living in this great and wonderful land of opportunity, it is my utmost desire to share in a Hemingwayesque minimalist style the story of Kyzer. Jon Howard Hall lives in St. Clair County, Alabama. KYZER'S DESTINY is his first novel.
