PAUL JOHNSON (Manchester, 1928-2023) fue uno de los historiadores, periodistas y escritores más renombrados del Reino Unido. Educado en Oxford, Johnson fue autor de docenas de libros sobre historia, arte, religión, arquitectura y de un par de novelas. Prestigioso periodista, fue durante seis años editor de New Statesman. Entre sus libros de mayor éxito se encuentran Tiempos modernos, La historia del cristianismo y La historia de los judíos.
