This book contains a manual to share our program, support and promote the maternal competencies of women, especially those affected by experiences of childhood abuse and/or partner violence, as well as different forms of violence: organized violence, war, genocide, mass rape, torture and exile. Both the fundamentals of this program and its objectives and methodology are applicable to support the maternal task of parents. To the extent that we do not have a significant casuistry to testify the results of the application of the program with them, we have chosen to present the application of the program with mothers. The different activities that make up the workshops of this program have in common to promote the active participation of mothers through the recognition of their experiences, as sources of knowledge, because they are the experts of what has happened to them. This allows not only the recognition of their difficulties and suffering, but also helps them to recognize and accept their personal resources and their ability to survive, as well as to receive and provide social support to other women who have gone through the same thing. For this reason, this manual proposes group activities, in the form of conversations around significant themes, as well as activities to help them recognize and modulate their emotions, behaviors and representations, in order to put them at the service of a well-mannered parenting. The set of workshops that make up this program is also conceived as a way to prevent child abuse and a form of support to introduce strategies into the parenting models of their children so that they can learn non-violent relational and conflict resolution models. At the same time, it facilitates the search for alternatives that help their children to protect themselves from possible aggressions.
