This manuscript is a symposium of two research studies undertaken to facilitate the implementation of the International Standards applicable for laboratories in two different contexts. Laboratory Accreditation can bring huge benefits to industries and businesses world-wide. The first study therefore, addresses the accreditation needs for the calibration and testing labs and the second study addresses the accreditation needs for medical Labs. Both studies were comparable and demonstrate that to achieve their mission, laboratories, must structure their approach, to ensure that everyone from top management to the bottom-line personnel must be committed and there must be adequate planning, resource distribution, training, internal and external benchmarking of test results to ensure efficiency and competency. Accreditation means ensuring quality in every step of the process. This manuscript therefore, highlights the key factors important for laboratories to provide high quality services to customers.
