Electrical equipment has to be properly classified and handled carefully in electrical machines and any electrical material so that the machine will be functional, safe, and economical. Materials for electronics need to satisfy standard quality criteria set from practical experiences and recommended by a code of practices. The use of relevant national and/or international standards is given high importance since laboratory or field test results have to be compared with other test data obtained from previous works of similar conditions. The availability of suitable laboratory testing facilities and trained laboratory personnel is thus crucially important in assessing the quality of electrical materials and evaluating test results.
