1980 erwarb Faridoun Allawi seinen Master of Science in Boden- und Wassertechnik an der Cranfield University of Technology, England. Seit 1980 unterrichtet er Ingenieurstudenten. Sein wissenschaftliches Hauptinteresse gilt dem hydrogeologischen Ingenieurwesen und der geometrischen Modellierung mit interaktiven Computergrafiken.
