Landing in artistic gymnastics occurs during the execution of several gymnastics elements during training and competition. It is the final act of the competition routine. The quality of landing can be decisive fact to win or not to win. Authors analysed floor exercises landings (as there are most landings) at Men Europeans in 2004 and found the most important generators of errors. Later the experiment with national gymnastics team members was conducted in order to find biomechanical reasons for low quality landings. The most important factor for low quality are asymmetries during landing, mostly when gymnasts perform somersaults with turns, independently of somersault direction. Coaches and gymnasts can find suggestions how to improve their work in order to minimise injury risk and maximise results.
