Landscape as a natural space of human habitat is inextricably linked to human life and is reflected in language and culture. Each language is characterized by its own special way of perceiving reality. The study of language pictures of the world is one of the keys to understanding the peculiarities of this or that culture. In the course of this study it was found that the landscape is one of the significant fragments of the English and Romanian language pictures of the world. Comparative analysis of linguistic material (lexemes, phraseology, proverbs and sayings) allowed to identify culturally significant concepts associated with the ideas of speakers of these languages about space, about the place of man in this world, about home, household, country. The key concepts associated with the forms of relief were considered in the work: "land", "water", "shore", "bottom", "elevation". Based on the vocabulary analysis of these concepts, a number of assumptions were made about the differences in the worldview of speakers of English and Romanian languages. In particular, the peculiarities of the reflection of such notions as security, borders, prudence, balance, prudence, etc. in these language pictures of the world are described.
