This work explores the dynamics of the Algerian languages in contact in the USA in comparison with the first Algerian Diaspora to France. It focuses on the changes in the perceptions of Algerians towards their languages, and on the dynamics of adaptation in their new linguistic communities. It contributes to the field of social sciences especially linguistics and anthropology in that it deals with Algerian languages and their speakers, a new linguistic community especially in the USA.

Autor

Khadidja Arfi received a master's degree in cultural anthropology with a focus on Algerian languages in the Diaspora. Currently, she is a PhD student with a focus on memory and colonialism. She also teaches the Arabic language and culture at University of Florida, Gainesville, USA.
