There are a number of languages of France. The French language is by far the most widely spoken and the only official language of France, but several regional languages are also spoken to varying degrees. Other languages are spoken by a substantial percentage of the population due to immigration. The map to the right includes the French-speaking Belgium or Wallonia in the north-east (the Walloon language is spoken almost solely in Wallonia) and some small parts of the sprachraum of the Picard language, a (smaller) part of that of the Lorrain language and a very small area of that of the Champenois language.
