This book evaluates the process of installing a large scale photovoltaic (PV) power plant, with core emphasis on self-consumption, and provides a standard guide for investors for selecting components and installing large scale solar power plants. A methodology is developed to meet the electricity demand of large consumers using large scale PV systems under self-consumption principle. The proposed method is used to select a system size having the minimum PV energy injection into the grid and the lowest payback period. A case study is carried out and a 982 kWp PV power plant is designed for CIU, Nicosia.
