"Las Aventuras de Enrique en Panamá" is a comprehensible input reader written with my students in mind. They were enthusiastic and gave me candid feedback. This is a Spanish easy reader for Spanish students at the end of Spanish 1 or beginning Spanish 2. It is an adventure story that will take the readers to the beautiful scenery in Panama when an exchange student from Spain goes to Panama and learns about his family's historical past and its connection to the legend of a beautifully shaped mountain named "La India Dormida", which attracts many visitors to the valley. It is a delightful story, presented with creative and authentic illustrations by Panamanian artists. The character lived his adventure in "El Valle de Antón", an extinct volcano with a unique climate that hosts a calm and friendly village. Enrique is an upper school student who lives in the historical agricultural region of Andalusia, Spain. He attends an international school and works at his family's sunflower field business after school and on the weekends. He likes soccer and outdoor activities. Luckily for him, in his junior year, he had the opportunity to be part of a cultural exchange-travel program to go across the Atlantic Ocean to Panama. His best friend Beto joins him. They stay with two different host families. Enrique's host family lives and owns a hostal in "El Valle", and they have a daughter named Lily, who meets him at the airport in her Uber. There was an immediate connection between Lily and Enrique, which develops a friendship that continues beyond the legend of the mountain into the preservation of the trail. "La India Dormida" legendary trail and water springs offer Enrique an enchanted experience. Easy-reader of a fictional story based on a native legend.
