J. J. Benítez es licenciado en Periodismo por la Universidad de Navarra, España. Era una persona normal (según sus propias palabras) hasta que en 1972 el Destino (con mayúsculas, según él) le salió al encuentro, y se especializó en la investigación de enigmas y misterios. Ha publicado 56 libros. En julio de 2002 estuvo a punto de morir.
