This book describes the generation of femtosecond laser induced structuring of Stainless steel in different environments (vacuum & O2) for various laser fluences. The irradiated targets were analyzed by using various characterization techniques. Surface damage morphology with fluence, shot number and ambient environment are investigated by using SEM analysis. The chemical and phase analysis is performed by using EDS and XRD analysis. It describes a strong correlation between surface morphology, chemical analysis and with the evolution of stresses under both ambient environments. It is observed…mehr

It is observed that the fsec laser produces a large variety of nano/ micro-structures i.e., LIPSS formation parallel and perpendicular to the incident laser field, micro-cones and micro-cavities. This book gives a comprehensive insight to the mechanisms and physical processes that are responsible for forming such structures in metals. It also presents optimal threshold values for producing these surface and structural modifications, respectively.
