Laser application in dentistry has got various applications in maxillofacial regions. The lasers have demonstrated significant advantages over other modalities or intraoral surgical procedures. With adequate training and experience, the oral and maxillofacial surgeon can use this tool for efficient, bloodless, and less invasive surgery. With further development of newer, more versatile, and more specifically absorbed laser wavelengths, new clinical applications will undoubtedly arise. With a thorough understanding of the possible complications associated with laser surgery, we can minimize their occurrence through proper patient selection, preoperative preparation, appropriate technique, and vigilant postoperative care.
