A comparative analysis of the traditional method and the PRODES method was carried out in order to devalidate a methodology to interpret deforestation in a sector of the !quitosNauta, Loreto, in an approximate area of 10,000 ha, using the non-aligned systematic method; the confusion matrix was determined through the construction of a square matrix of m rows by m columns, thus obtaining data on observed and expected points that served to calculate the Kappa index that measures the degree of concordance between the map of the observed and expected reality simply at random. The area calculated by the PRO DES method is 54.01% for primary forest and by the traditional method 56.49%; While for deforestation it is 45.7% for the PRODES method and 42.67% for the traditional method, which do not present a significant difference for the interpretation of these units, through the concordance matrix observed for the PRODES method and the traditional method, 55 coincidences were obtained for forests, 52 for deforestation and 1 for lakes, the result of the concordance of the observed points isPo=0.88, indicating a high coincidence.
