Professor Stephen Mayson is a former tax lawyer who became a consultant in legal practice in 1985. He has advised law firms, large and small, around the world, as well as corporate and government legal departments, barristers' chambers, patent and trade mark attorneys, and professional associations. His consulting work emphasises strategy, profitability, valuation and ownership. He has a PhD in law firm valuation and is a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management and an honorary member of the Law Management Section of the Law Society. He was appointed as the Director of the new Legal Services Policy Institute at the College of Law in 2006, where he is also Professor of Strategy.
