Learning strategies in distance education allow students to be responsible for their own learning and develop metacognitive skills to self-reflect, control and self-regulate their learning process, identifying and evaluating their progress towards it. The research aims to determine the learning strategies for the achievement of competencies in distance education, working with students who had already completed their first trimester and were in their second trimester at the Open University for Adults (UAPA). The research was quantitative, descriptive and field research. The results made it possible to determine that the students use different strategies, such as rehearsal, elaboration, organization, metacognitive, self-regulation, evaluation and support or effective reactions, which have contributed to the competencies specified in the syllabuses of the subjects they have studied, according to their assessment, 67% have managed to develop them completely, 32% moderately and only 1% did not manage to develop some of the competencies.
