Autorenporträt
Growing up in Virginia, Molly Kate Brown learned to love the ocean, the advance and retreat of waves on the shore, their bubbly whisper back to the boundless sea. She learned to love the call of the mourning dove, the song of the whippoorwill, violently crashing thunderstorms that move in as slowly as they recede. Her heart was captivated by fireflies twinkling the nighttime into magic. She was blessed with family and friends to teach her about love in those formative years, and by the age of eleven she began following her heart's inspiration to put pen to paper in the form of poetry. After college in 1997 during which she attained a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, she heeded a strong, internal pull to go west. With the exception of a year spent living in Hawaii, Boulder, Colorado has been her home. She has practiced some form of meditation since the age of twenty. It has been an important tool, a headlamp, to do the inner exploration she's been drawn to do. She has since discovered other very important tools. She's worked in healthcare since 1997, initially as a cardiac nurse, and now as a Nurse Practitioner after attaining a Master's in Science of Nursing in 2013. She is inspired by matters of the heart. Her single most joy-filled activity is surfing gentle waves in a warm ocean. Life continues to be her greatest teacher. She continues to journey farther and farther into the raw, expansive landscape that is her own. It is understanding her own peaks, valleys, sharp edges, raging rivers, howling wind, blazing, fiery sun, and still, still night that is her highest priority in this life. By so doing, compassion for self, other, and greater understanding of life emerge. She lives in the foothills of Boulder, Colorado with her beloved husband, Dan. Learning to Walk in India: A Love Story is her first book. She is presently working on her second book.
