Diese ursprünglich als Hilfsmittel für die praktische Anwendung in der Tapetenproduktion gedachte Arbeit wurde bald ein Regelwerk der Farbgebung und gewann große Bedeutung für die Moderne, auch weit über den architektonischen Bereich hinaus.
