They compete in Europe's Super League competition and are the current champions, having won the 2009 Grand Final. The club's home is the 22,250 capacity Headingley Carnegie Stadium, which is in the suburb of Headingley, north-west Leeds, where they have played since 1890. Leeds are one of the oldest clubs in the world and are owned by the same company that also run the Leeds Carnegie rugby union team. The club are the third most successful rugby league club in England behind only St Helens and Wigan Warriors, as judged by the number of Challenge Cups won. The club was founded in 1870, playing under the Rugby Football Union until 1895, when they were one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Rugby Football League, making them one of the world's first rugby league teams. Leeds wontheir first Challenge Cup final in 1910, and have gone on to win it eleven more times.
