Land use planning advocates a balanced development that is necessarily based on three foundations, namely: the unity of the territory, economic efficiency and rational management of natural resources. Whatever the level of development, whatever the profile of the managers and technicians, various principles can be retained, but they all boil down to the three fundamentals. The analysis of the legal and regulatory framework for rural land tenure thus shows that the elaboration and application of texts take into account these principles, since they aim on the one hand at preserving life together and on the other hand at achieving a strong economy. The present reflection on this theme contributes to the strengthening of knowledge on land issues related to the rural world in Burkina Faso.
