This dissertation seeks to verify the legal possibility of the recognition of plural unions. Initially, it studied the historical conceptual design of the family as well as its reflexes in the legal world. The species of families as a legal institute were approached, among those provided for and not provided for in the constitution, demonstrating the feasibility of characterizing the polyaffective union as a species not provided for in the constitution, as long as the requirements are met, which are, continuous, lasting relationship and socio-affective ties.
