The fascicle includes 291 laws and decrees from between 300/299 and 229/8 BCE, which was as really turbulent period in the history of Athens. As literary sources are largely missing for thee years, the inscriptions are of particular importance. They witness the interior disposition of the city, its dependence on the Hellenistic kings, and its struggle for sovereignty. All inscriptions are referenced by indices.
Der Faszikel IG II/III³ 1, 4 enthält 291 Gesetze und Dekrete aus der für die athenische Geschichte äußerst turbulenten Zeit von 300/299 bis 229/8 v.Chr. Da für diese Jahrzehnte literarische Quellen weitgehend fehlen, kommt den epigraphischen eine besondere Bedeutung zu. Sie bezeugen die innere Verfassung der Stadt, ihre Abhängigkeit von verschiedenen hellenitischen Königen und ihren beständigen Kampf um Unabhängigkeit.
