Produktbeschreibung
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus Nee ex Steud) Wats belong to genus Cymbopogon. The genus Cymbopogon comprises around 140 species of which most are aromatic yields an essential oil of high commercial and industrial significance. Lemongrass oil composed mainly of acyclic monoterpenes citral and geraniol are occupying ever-increasing and vastly varied significance in flavor and fragrances as well as in pharmaceuticals. The present book encompasses information on essential oil biosynthesis, accumulation, and its regulation derived from experimental works carried out in lemongrass cv. OD-19 and its mutant cv. GRL-1. Enzymology of geraniol formation in lemongrass mutant cv. GRL-1 has been elaborately discussed with particular emphasis to a key enzyme geranyl acetate esterase (GAE). The book shed light on implication of GAE isozymes and random amplified DNA polymorphism for identification of Cymbopogon species and their cultivars. This book will be very useful to scientists and research scholars to home into essential oil biosynthesis and regulation in Cymbopogons and other aromatic genera.
