Born in Lansing, Michigan, I've lived in Michigan almost my whole life. I've lived in the country between Lansing and Jackson for over forty years. I graduated from Holly High School in 1965, married Nina Houghton in 1969 in Flint, Michigan, graduated from Bible School in 1971 with a Bachelor of Religious Education, and graduated from Aquinas College in 1976 with a degree in business with an accounting major. I worked as a printer until 1979 and then got a job with the State of Michigan where I worked as an analyst until I retired in 2010.I'm an athlete adventurer. I've been a bicycle rider since the early 80s and trained for and in 1994 qualified to ride in the Race Across America. In 2007 I became a runner and have done over 50 races, most of them 5K. I've also canoed down the Au Sable River from Grayling to Lake Huron camping along the way (about a 120-mile trip) three times. In 2003 rode horseback on trails from Lake Huron (Oscoda) to Lake Michigan (Empire) camping along the way. In 2015 I bicycled from San Diego to St. Augustine, Fla, about a 2800 mile trip, carrying all my gear on my bike and camping (most of the time) along the route. I've done numerous other bike tours and camping trips.I have three children, two girls and a boy. In 2018 my wife died and in 2019 I married Arlene Jenkins in Hell, Michigan.
