Cora starting writing this book a week after her grandmother's funeral. She was so deep into her grief that she could only sit still and replay precious moments spent with her grandmother. Writing allowed Cora to travel back in time to when her grandmother was alive and well. In Cora's words, "Writing this book was grief therapy and my companion as I mourned the loss of my centre of gravity."There were hard lessons to learn in a family dominated by an archetypal crone and her fierce, independent daughters. As the oldest member of her generation in this crazy family, Cora wanted to capture the stories that will influence generations to come.
