Bereavement hardly ever becomes an illness; however, it makes us feel intensely, overwhelmingly ill. The need to find understanding and emphathy cannot be easily quelled through gratuitous recommendations and common sense advice, which are much more helpful in soothing the anguish of those who provide them, rather than in alleviating the mourner's suffering. The aim of this text is precisely to provide a space of understanding and identification, useful to those who personally suffer the loss of a loved one, as well as to those who propose themselves as friends.
