Bundled Energy and Enormous PowerAs a sculptor, Leunora Salihu (born 1977 in Pristina, Kosovo, lives and works in Düsseldorf) has developed a distinctive artistic language. In her practice she uses a wide range of materials, including clay, wood, multiplex boards, or plastic, allowing the works to enter into a dialogue with each other in unusual ways. The artist deals with movement in a static form, with the affinity between the interior and the exterior, with apparent functionality, and with the relationship between art and everyday objects. Associations with industry, engineering, architecture, and literature are evoked. Franz Kafka and his literary dealings with spaces have long been a source of inspiration for the artist. "I'm looking for something extraordinary in form and material, paired with the temporal aspects of movement. Condensing such contrasts into a clear image is appealing to me," clarified the artist during an interview.This book includes the newest works by Leunora Salihu, developed by her for her eponymous exhibition in the Nordrhein-Westfalen K 21 Ständehaus. It contains an introduction by Thomas A. Für ihre Skulpturen verwendet sie unterschiedlichste Materialien wie Ton, Holz, Multiplexplatten oder auch Kunststoff, die sie auf ungewöhnliche Weise miteinander verbindet und in einen Dialog treten lässt. Die Künstlerin befasst sich mit Bewegung in statischer Form, mit dem Verhältnis von Innen und Außen, mit scheinbarer Funktionalität und mit der Beziehung von Kunst zu Alltagsgegenständen. Assoziationen an Industrie, Maschinenbau, Architektur und Literatur werden wachgerufen. Franz Kafka und sein literarischer Umgang mit Räumen hat die Künstlerin lange inspiriert. "Ich suche etwas Überzeitliches in Form und Material gepaart mit zeitlichen Aspekten der Bewegung. Es reizt mich, solche Gegensätze in einem klaren Bild zu verdichten", äußerte die Künstlerin in einem Interview.Das Buch zeigt neuere Arbeiten von Leunora Salihu, die sie für ihre gleichnamige Ausstellung im K 21 Ständehaus der Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen entwickelt hat.
