Author is alumni of both Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand & University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. This book is a study of a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science and it is the determination of the level of Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene & Xylenes (BTEX) inside and outside environment of a Petroleum Refinery Industry. BTEX expose to the atmosphere due to the refinery operations of petrochemicals occurred in industry. BTEX vapors are corrosive and toxic substance and can also pose drinking water hazard as they accumulate in ground water. They often stick together in contaminated site and they are more harmful to human than the non-human living things whereas Benzene alone is a well-known human carcinogen. Prolonged exposure to these compounds has harmful effects on kidney, liver and blood systems. The study was conducted in a refinery industry collecting samples from various sites and they were analyzed in modern Gas Chromatographic (GC-TDU & GC-MS) techniques.
